L' empreinte créative de la famille Conolly
(The creative imprint of the Conolly family)
Through her paintings and drawings, artist Maude Connolly shares the intimate universe of her family home, which was the initial source of her inspiration. Through this creative journey, we meet her parents, brother and sisters, artists and artisans and become witnesses in a shared imagination that is both whimsical and revealing of touching moments in the life of this family.
At the center of the room, one finds paintings of Henri and Marie Connolly, working on their sculpture, their embroidery. These artifacts which were kept by the family, and to which we give back a voice, interact with the creations of their children to reveal before our eyes the common thread of a family's work marked by originality.
I collaborated on the design, texts and production.
This exhibition was on view from June to September 2006 at the Amerindian museum of Mashteuiatsh, Mashteuiatsh, Lac St-Jean. It was made possible thanks to the availability and generosity of the Connolly family who took part in the various stages of its development (Maude, Jacinthe, Bernard, Henriette and Jean-Marie, and Mariette Manigouche, spouse of Bernard). Produced by the Musée Amérindien de Mashteuiatsh in collaboration with the University-Community Research Alliance Design and Material Culture: Community Development and Indigenous Cultures (UQAC) directed by Elisabeth Kaine.
